“We contacted Justice Leslie Zises to officiate our wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many couples, our original plans were up-ended and we found ourselves making a relatively last-minute decision to get married, and decided to have a celebration down the road. In this situation, we were nervous whether we would be able to find somebody flexible enough to officiate our micro-wedding on a few weeks' notice.
We found Leslie through an online search and contacted her after reading her impressive reviews. From the first interactions, it was clear why Leslie is so acclaimed: Leslie was incredibly responsive, flexible, and went above and beyond to make sure that we had an unforgettable day. My husband and I got married in the Boston Public Garden and planned our elopement in under 2 weeks. Leslie helped to create our ceremony, and she made it run smoothly and effortlessly. My husband and I first met with Leslie about six months in advance of the ceremony, and she immediately drafted up some wonderful remarks—which were tailored to reflect us as a couple. For example, she incorporated facts about how we met, and the connection we both have to literature, which was particularly appropriate, as the wedding was literary-themed. Her attention to detail and her language use were both exquisite, as were her recommendations about how and when to incorporate readings. We wanted to interweave a couple of poems (as well as a multi-denominational blessing) into the ceremony, and were a little flummoxed in thinking about how to make the whole thing flow well—and not feel choppy or scattered. Leslie had terrific recommendations about where to place particular readings; in the end, the ceremony moved along effortlessly.
